Can I take more than one class at a time?
Yes, students are able to register for more than one class at a time. Many classes require outside of class reading and labs. You will want to make sure you know the class requirements.
Can I enroll my high school student?
Students enrolling in Charter Oak Adult Education courses must be 18 years or older.
My son/daughter is currently an 18-year-old high school senior and wants to take an adult education class concurrently. Is that possible?
Yes, as long a student is 18 years old or older by the time of the first class session, they may concurrently enroll.
Do we offer job placement?
Instructors help students build a resume and learn interview skills. Students are exposed to local job opportunities in class each week.
Do registration fees include exam fees for Information Technology Certification classes?
All Certification courses registration fees include the cost for the exam voucher, unless otherwise specified in the course description.
Do we offer childcare?
At this time Charter Oak Adult Education does not offer childcare.
Can anyone take an English as a Second Language (ESL) class?
Anyone who is 18 years or older whose first language is not English and is looking to improve English skills is eligible for our free ESL courses. Upon registering for the course students will be given a placement exam to determine their level of instruction.
Why do you need all my personal information for a community class?
Charter Oak Adult Education is a state-funded program. We are required to collect student data for all students enrolling in any of our courses, regardless of the type of class.
Some of these questions in the online application don’t seem to apply to me, do I have to answer them?
Yes, all questions need to be answered. If you come across a question that doesn’t seem to apply to your current situation, please select the best answer that closely matches your reason for enrolling in a class with us.
I want to obtain my high school diploma. What options are available to me?
At this time, we do not offer a high school diploma program. We do offer Adult Basic Education (ABE) for students taking steps toward a high school equivalency diploma or just want to improve academic skills. In addition, we offer High School Equivalency (HSE) Preparation to help you will be able to brush up on all sections of the General Educational Development exam (GED) or the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET).

What forms of payment do we accept?
We accept cash, Visa and MasterCard, and debit cards that display the Visa and MasterCard logo.
Do we take checks?
We do not take checks. You may make a payment with cash, Visa or MasterCard, or a debit card that display the Visa or MasterCard logo.
Do you offer financial aid?
We do not offer financial aid. You can call the office to inquire about payment arrangements.
Can I make payments?
If you need time to pay, please contact our office. Payment arrangements can be made to pay over the term a student is taking a course.
